An attitude of Gratitude turns every bad day into a good day

ImageOur mind is very powerful.  It can help us and also destroy us.  If we can accept that, we can move forward in life while paying close attention to the thoughts we think. Being mindful and aware of the goings on and the voices in your head can be very helpful.

I try to start my day with gratitude for just being alive to partake of another day.  Having created many challenges in my youth, I have gratitude to all the people who have helped me survive and thrive.

Today is a special day for me as it is my grandmother Ammama’s birthday.  She was the one who raised me as a child, since my mother developed hepatitis when I was born. She passed away nine years ago, but has remained very close to my heart. It was in her honor that I released my book, Beyond the PIG and the APE: Realizing Success and true Happiness, last year on June 28th.

I was wondering a few days ago about celebrating my book’s first birthday, but had no idea what to do.  Conjuring something just so that I can have something to say or do was not so appealing to me.  That’s when I surrendered to the universe with good intentions and it delivered.  I was notified that a website chose to feature me as their Inspirational Luminary on June 28th, based on a response to a request that I had submitted in March. How coincidental?

Last week, I spent four days at a retreat with Eckhart Tolle, one of my favorite teachers, at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY.  One of the things he shared was that the universe usually comes through for you at the last-minute.

I am learning to let go and trust the universe.  Having an attitude of gratitude and working with good intentions seem to deliver results as long as we can truly surrender and trust the universe without letting our Egos get anxious and try to scheme, control or engineer the outcome.  Resistance is a hallmark of the Ego, while acceptance is a virtue of our core natural self.

My gratitude goes to all those who helped me not only write my book, but also read and critique it. I have been humbled by those who have reached out and shared their feedback and how it has changed their lives.

I did not expect the reaction that it has received thus far.  As it is my first book, I was expecting to get a normal distribution of responses, i.e., some liking it, some simply disliking it and more somewhere in the middle. To my amazement, the responses have been overwhelmingly positive.

Please join me as I celebrate the 1st birthday of my book by visiting and checking out the 500 words that I would pass along to others if today were my last day on earth.  I would love to hear your comments and be grateful if you could share my message with your friends.

For harmony in your life and our world,
